David continues the “Reflect for a change” – looking at Old Testament Characters and considers Ehud, the second Judge in the book of Judges. He looks at Ehud’s example of having courage for God.
Dave starts a new series looking at Old Testament characters. He considers the challenge of mastering jealous as he looks at the offerings of Cain and Abel and God’s engagement with Cain and his subsequent decision to reject God’s counsel.
Dave looks at the connection between worship and holiness. He examines both the bringing of the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem and the coming of the Son of God into the world and the fact that without holiness it is not possible to bring acceptable worship into the presence of God.
Dave starts the new series exploring acts, unpacking the key elements of the vision at ECF to be a loving community church, centered in Christ, transforming and equipping people to bring glory to God. He looks at the example of the early church as it shared, served (hospitality), supported, settled (forgives) and supplicated (prayed). Jesus said, by this ALL people would know that we are his disciples, by our love for one another.
Dave looks at the evidence for Jesus resurrection and the impact it has on our lives today. He explores John’s account of the resurrection in the light of the evidence of Old Testament prophecy fulfilled, Jesus claims fulfilled and the foundation of the church. David aims to equip us to be ready to give a reason for the hope we have as Christians.
Dave looks at the third and final sermon the series on overcoming the trap of bitterness. He opens the scriptures to look at the root, the cycle, the impact and the remedy for bitterness, exploring the family example of a cycle of bitterness from Abraham to Joseph and how Joseph finally breaks the cycle.
Dave continues with the second half of John chapter 13, contrasting the betrayal of King David with the betrayal that Jesus experienced. He looks at Jesus troubled but loving heart, the heart of Judas: deceitful and covetous and the heart of Peter – willing but weak and the remedies the Bible gives us for a weak heart.
Dave continues the series in Malachi considering the impact of the broken promises on the nation of Israel and how we can see a parallel and a warning for ourselves as new testament Christians. The talk looks at the two key covenants: 1. The covenant with Levi 2. The marriage covenant.
Dave looks at the resurrection from the account in Matthew and asks what this means for us today. As we come seeking Christ, we can move from fear to peace and joy as we acknowledge the victory, presence and authority of the risen Christ.
Is Jesus really as amazing as Christians claim he is? David uses this passage in John to explore the wonder of who Jesus really is and to test the claims he made about himself.
